When I feel overwhelmed by trends, choice and my wardrobe in general, I always like to take it back to the capsule wardrobe. While I definitely don’t have one (a minimalist would have a mini heart attack just looking at my shoe collection), I make sure a part of my closet is the “capsule” corner. It’s the best way to never stand in front of your clothes rail, surrounded by about 13 outfits flung on the floor around you, and finally concede “I have nothing to wear!”. Having a selection of trusted and classic basics can get you out of a pinch when you feel uninspired by all your other clothes.
All that to say, I rely on essentials to make up my seasonal capsule wardrobe. And preferably they will be classics, not the trendy-and-outdated-in-5-weeks pieces.
The white dress is one of my favorites for spring and summer. While traditionally better suited for warm weather, whether it’s city strolling or a day at the beach, I always take this piece out of storage when spring rolls around.
I love the cotton ones as they provide more structure and warmth. Extra points for embroidered details which make me feel spring is already in full bloom. The dress can always be layered with a leather jacket and styled with boots to provide some extra warmth when the weather isn’t quite there yet.
This year I found a gorgeous one at Zara (picture above) and I couldn’t let it go. It has long sleeves, so it works even better for spring. I am obsessed with the beautiful details and the semi-structured skirt. The length is perfect for me as a shorter dress, but be aware I’m shorter (5’3 / 160 cm), so if you’re on the taller side this could be an issue. For tinies like me, though, this is a bit of a unique find! I do like the fabric belt it comes with, but in my mind I am already wearing this with my fabulous, new Valentino belt.

I wanted to share some of my favorite finds (because I sadly can’t justify buying them all myself), I have found this spring to be particularly fruitful in terms of brands realizing that we want white cotton dresses for spring!
